Butterfly Rooms
Our Butterfly children are encouraged to be independent through their experiences and imagination, they independently investigate their surroundings, plan their own activities and self-serve during mealtimes. Children of this age have wonderful imaginations and need to express themselves freely. That is why we have created an environment with a wide and varied range of resources and activities for your child.
Through the learning of new skills, you will notice your child develop confidence in their own abilities and become increasingly independent. Our butterfly children demonstrate their understanding and develop their confidence to speak in a small group as they contribute to discussions.
Children who are toilet training are encouraged in a positive manner making it a fun and exciting experience for children as they become more independent. During toilet training we mirror what is being practised at home and support parents throughout.
2 – 3 Years
Supporting your child
Our approach to childcare involves promoting the development of both fine and gross motor skills through sensory exploration and edible play. We utilise various tools and activities to encourage independent movement around the room, which in turn helps to build core muscle strength.
Butterfly children are supported in the growth of fine and gross motor skills through variety of indoor and outdoor activities to support movement independently to build on core muscle strength.
Your child will have a range of opportunities to run about in fresh air to develop their larger muscles. Your child will learn to build strength in hands and wrists children need to practice squeezing, pinching, and twisting, as well as their hand-eye coordination – they need to train not only their bodies but the links between body and brain.
Your child will be provided with tricycles, scooters, and large balls to promote larger movements freely.
